On behalf of the LPS Music committee and the school community I would like to congratulate our Wind Ensemble and Orchestra on their amazing performances throughout their tour of the Central Coast. Once again the teaching staff and students at each of the seven schools were in awe of our young musicians. Mums and dads, you would have been so proud of your children- they worked as one big team (78 students) loading in and loading out at each school, supporting and encouraging each other and all the time behaving with such maturity.
A big thank you to Carlo Antonioli, for his hard work in preparing our young musicians for the tour and Anne Sweeney, our string director, for her support.
Thank you also to Vicki Flaherty for working closely with me to organise transport, places to perform , somewhere to sleep and something to eat over the three days. And finally Jann Barry and Emma Virgona for their encouragement and support of our musicians over the three days- It was a great team effort.
Congratulations to our LPS Aerobics team, the Lollipops, on their magnificent win. They came 1st in the State competition held in Newcastle on Saturday. The team has worked hard over the past two terms in preparation for this competition so it was a well deserved win. Congratulations Gabby, Anna, Lauren, Beth, Jasmine, Kico, Layla, Koko, Luca and Lykke! A big thank you to Ms Besley and Ms Hill for giving up their lunch breaks to train the team- the school community really appreciates your commitment to the students.
All NSW public schools are currently being advised of their 2016 Resource Allocation Model (RAM) funding. RAM distributes funding based on individual needs of students and schools, and gives schools greater flexibility to make financial decisions.
The way schools use their RAM funding will vary based on local needs. Some support will be for the entire school, and some will be for particular groups of students or individual students.
There is an overview document about the RAM available on the Department of Education website. If you would like to know more about how our school is planning to use the funding to support students, please talk to the Principal.
Our String groups, Vivaldis, Mozarts and Beethovens and our School Orchestra participated in the Australian School Orchestral Festival last weekend. We were very proud of all their performances and we have listed the results below. Congratulations to all our musicians.

The Under 10s Black Panthers team at Leichhardt Wanderers convincingly won their final match to be Premier champions. The girls from Year 4 and Year 5 only began playing as a team earlier this year, but put 110% team effort in for every practice and every match.
The LPS players are, from Year 5: Nina Hetreles, Maeve McClymont, Sophia Miralis, Savannah Vilner; from Year 4 Sienna Crisford, Kate Munro, Tessa Tomkins and Sophia Triganza. Many of these girls play PSSA netball for LPS - and are netball addicts! The girls received as their prize personalised hoodies, medals and - most excitingly - a cake with their faces on it in edible icing!
HUGE thanks to LPS Mums Sarah Munro (team coach) and Lauren Hetreles (team trainer) for getting our girls to the final.

Orders must be returned to the front office by Friday, 18th September. Please note, if you pay online through our web site you must send an order form in to the office.
From all orders placed a small percentage goes towards resources for the art program. Thank you!
